It's Lynica McClellan and I'm in LEAP 2. Recently we had a CAP fair and it went really well. I achieved and accomplished so much this year. We wanted to educate the next youth about green practices in their community.
I enjoyed this CAP so much. We did many activities including; games, obstacle course, gardening, & a nature walk. Each of these activities taught the kids something new. We showed the kids how to have fun with out harming the environment. For lunch the kids had fruits & vegetables, granola bars and grilled hamburgers & hot dogs. We also wanted to show the kids that healthy food can be really good & tasty.
I felt really excited & confident about our CAP until the unexpected happened, elementary kids came along with the middle school kids. I was nervous about what they were going to think and if they would understand my lesson. to my surprise they understood it well and they enjoyed it. I had many challenges such as kids who didn't want to participate and were overly enthusiastic about this but with the help of others I overcame it.
Getting our CAP together was fun and stressful. We had to worry about our budget, if everyone was going to make it, and if everyone could successfully present their lesson. Thankfully LEAP 2 came together and made a beautiful CAP fair.
All together the CAP was beautiful and I know the kids learned a lot from it and so did I.

Well on Saturday April 30th of this year we Level 2 held our CAP which is Community Action Project at the Pool Groove in Highland Park. The whole experince to me was great I loved the whole thing. The chidren had alot of energy and they loved how they actually got to learn that day and be outside. In talking to one of the teachers from the their he said it was a good day and loved how we took the time to hang with the children. The thing I like the most was how everyone was engaged and there was not a lot of telling them to be quiet and stop doing this and that. I also liked how everyone didnot come in complaining saying they did want to be there also that i hard work thoughts and ideas and projects didnt go to waste and we enjoyed the day as much as the children did.
Community Action Project
Whats up bloggers? this is Darrell here to talk about the Tuesday crews CAP. Though i didnt do too much at the CAP in Highland Park, I did atleast get the chance to be in the gardening group and it taught me a lot about myself that i didnt know. i gained more confidence in being able to speak and teach and that was a wakness that i struggled with throughout the program. Being able to work with the youg children and teach them what i learned throughout my time in the SCA inspired me and makes me want to teach more. I am glad that i got the chance to teach these youg children at a young age what ive learned. It not only gave them the knowledge but they will hopefully pass it on to future generations to come.
I also have a very good time cooking and preparing the food. Not only was it good but there were organic ingredients in most of the food. Seeing the kids learning in a fun time and enjoying themselves let me know that they were interested in what we were teaching them.

C . A . P Fair =]
Hey There Readers , Its Dana here to fill everyone on our cap fair. I never once thought that I would become such a great leader. I use to be scared , shy and a bit quiet but sca helped me come out of my shell. I put my leadership skills to the test at our cap fair i shocked myself. What our cap fair was all about to me was educating the youth about 'GOiNG GREEN' and the enviromental world while doing so have fun , We accomplished this Of Course. My job there was to teach a recycling obstacle course and teach about gardening.
Recycling Obstacle Course;
The purpose behind this game was to inform them about recycling ( if they didnt already know ) and turn it into a game so therefore it was fun. They wanted to learn as well as win. I was so proud seeing these little kids all into recycling they were asking me questions and telling me what they knew. It gave me this feeling inside , just to know their looking up to me that moment i knew i was a role model in these young girls / boys lives. Best Feeling Ever =]
Gardening;
This was very fun for the kids we talked about gardening such as growing food and the benifits of doing so , also about saving money they let me know they were interested in what we talked about. Then we painted pots and after that we planted flowers in them. The highlight of my day was when this little girl asked me how to draw a flower. I sat down with her and taught her how to draw a flower she had the biggest smile on her face and she thanked me. That brightened up my whole day =]
