Poem - From HUGS crew

I am an African American who is very independent.
I wonder if I'm going to become what I want in life.
I hear you can do it if you put your mind to it.
I see myself pushing harder and harder to reach my goal.
I want to complete what I need to be successful.
I feel myself slowly accomplishing my goals each and every day.
I want my short-term goal to become my long-term goal.
I worry about all of the distractions that might throw me off track.
I understand that you have to work hard in order to get something good in return.
I say I'm going to become the nurse I want to be.
I dream about my life everyday because...
I am an African American who is very independent.
